Mother accused of hot water burning remanded A MOTHER of two was remanded to prison on Tuesday for allegedly throwing boiling water on her 12-year-old daughter. The prisoner, Mohanie Mahadeo, 34, of Lot 219 New Scheme, Port Mourant, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, at Whim Court, Corentyne, too, charged, indictably, with inflicting grievous bodily harm on the girl. Police alleged that, on June 21, Nadanie Boodhoo was sent to the shop by her mother but, instead of returning, she went elsewhere and was found hiding at a friend’s house. She was taken back home where her mother wet her with the hot water, resulting in burns on one hand and back, the court heard. The accused lamented that her daughter is disobedient but Mahadeo will remain incarcerated until July 9. |
