Courtney Raghu, 35, of Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, was yesterday placed on $25,000 bail for using threatening language and assault causing actual bodily harm committed on April 1 at Sophia, where he allegedly used threatening language to Sheliza La Claude, and unlawfully and maliciously assaulted her, causing her actual bodily harm.
Raghu pleaded not guilty to both charges before Sparendaam Magistrate Alex Moore. According to the prosecutor, Police Sergeant Bernard Browne, the virtual complainant and the defendant are neighbours, and the woman is Raghu’s niece. The parties refused to settle the matter out of court, and were asked to return to court on April 17. |
